Terms of service

What InboxNext is

InboxNext is a desktop application for reading and writing mail. It ships as an installer for Windows. The source code is public under the MIT licence; what is sold is the signed binary, the updates and the support.

The application connects directly to the mail servers the user configures. There is no mail service of ours and no middle server reading the messages.

Licence and activation

The Pro edition is bought once and activated with a key. Each licence covers the computers stated on the pricing page: two on Pro and five on Pro+.

The key is personal. Sharing it beyond the computers included can lead to the licence being revoked, without a refund, after a notice by email.

Activation sends the licence service the key, a random machine identifier and the application version. It sends no mail content, contacts or files.

Updates

Updates do not expire. Every new version released reaches the licence that was bought, with nothing to renew and no date after which the application stops updating.

This is not a promise of eternal development: if the product were discontinued, the version already installed keeps working. What is promised is that no version is held back from a licence that was paid for.

Acceptable use

The application may not be used to send unsolicited bulk mail, to impersonate identities or to break the terms of the user's mail provider.

The user is responsible for the credentials they configure. The application stores them in the operating system keychain.

Warranty and liability

The application is provided “as is”. Everything possible is done to make it work correctly, but it is not warranted to be free of errors or fit for a specific purpose.

Total liability is limited to the amount paid for the licence. None of this limits the rights consumer law grants in the country of purchase.

Changes

If these terms change, the new date is published and anyone with an active licence is told by email. Changes do not apply retroactively to earlier purchases.
